100 churches and charities receive funding totalling £298,850 in the latest wave of grants from Benefact Trust.

St Clement’s Church, Cambridge
A £5,000 grant from Benefact Trust is supporting St Clement’s Church to promote and preserve the art of bell ringing, by recruiting and teaching a new generation of bell ringers. The project will help to create a bell ringing centre in the tower, with a new ringing chamber and six new bells. The church, once at risk of closure, will raise the profile of this traditional art and invite people of all ages to join in the fun!
Urban Church, Warrington, Cheshire
After a successful pilot of its community café, a £5,000 grant from Benefact Trust is helping Urban Church to complete refurbishments to the building and make the café fully operational. It will be the hub of the community, supporting people in a disadvantaged area to access food, pastoral support, and address the increasing issues of loneliness and isolation which have been exacerbated by the pandemic.
The Kepplewray Trust, Cumbria
The Kepplewray Trust is a Christian-based charity and via the Kepplewray Centre it is providing outdoor activities for all abilities, including kayaking, canoeing, climbing, abseiling, bush-craft, and much more. Benefact Trust funding of £7,500 is supporting extensive repairs and upgrades to the centre, helping it to reach out to many more young people and support them to build friendships and life skills, especially those living with a lack of inclusion.
St Peter’s Highfields Church, Leicester
A £3,500 grant from Benefact Trust is supporting St Peter’s Highfields Church to create a permanent community radio studio in the church hall and make the church more accessible for community drop-ins. The church is based in a disadvantaged area of Leicester, and it is hoped that the new works will help to bring the community together and provide vital support as lockdown eases.
