Benefact Trust is supporting 48 churches and Christian charities with grants totalling £175,525 in the latest round of funding.

Caring For Life, Leeds
Caring for Life was established in 1987 to provide a range of support to an often overlooked but important section of society. While each person’s circumstances are unique, the charity mainly supports at-risk adults who have experienced pain and hardship. A £1,500 grant will help to make vital repairs and upgrades to Tindall House – one of the charity’s supported homes in Leeds – which provides 24-hour care and support for eight vulnerable men with varying needs, giving them a place where they know they truly belong.
St Werburgh’s Church, Chorlton, Manchester
St Werburgh’s is a resource church in a popular suburb just outside of Manchester city centre. There are a high proportion of young families in the area, with 44% of the parish aged under 30. Opportunities for engagement are huge, but younger people are not currently represented at the church. £15.000 funding from the Trust will enable the church to change this, building relationships with young families and bringing new life to the local community. But not only this, St Werburgh’s will use this funding boost to continue to grow, revitalise and plant churches in the surrounding areas.
Peterborough Cathedral Development and Preservation Trust, Peterborough
A £5,000 Benefact Trust grant will support Peterborough Cathedral Development and Preservation Trust to create a new cathedral shop. The purpose-built space will mirror the beauty of the cathedral and carry elements of the cathedral’s architecture through its design, but most importantly it will create a better experience for visitors than the existing, tired space. The new retail unit will be bright, light and in-keeping, encouraging more people to come and enjoy the cathedral and everything it offers.
Benedictine Monastery, Largs, Scotland
A £3,600 grant from Benefact Trust to the Benedictine Monastery in Largs, Scotland will help to re-roof the monastery and save the building from closing its doors. The monastery is one of 11 of its kind across the world, and offers hospitality to those most in need. The building is a place of worship and a retreat, but also has a free Christian Heritage Museum, a tea room, and a craft shop available to the public.
